php_value post_max_size internal server error

When the postmaxsize is increased via .htaccess I got internal server error. I put a .htaccess file in a folder with
the contents as follow :

php_value post_max_size 500M
php_value upload_max_filesize 500M

It is working in local but not in the server. What to do ?

There is no issues with your code. May be your hosting provider doesn't allow changing php configuration values using
htaccess. To check that, just remove your .htaccess file from that folder and see if the error is cleared. If so,
then the .htaccess file is creating the server error.

As an alternative solution try to upload a php.ini file with updated configuration values to that folder. The next time when the server
is restarted your changes will work.
