Basic diff is just that, general relativity deals with the gravitational effects as well, which is not done in special.

In special theory of relativity we deal those objects which is in rest or constant speed and in general theory of relativity we study those objects which vary with speed. That is those have not constant speed.

In special theory we keep dealing with frames which have constant velocities and the focus is on localized region but general relativity is where we deal on previous conditions and the effects on large moreover we are discussing here on nature and behavior of space-time on universal frame just as gravity where curved geometry enters in your formula book.
